GDPRThe SGT and your personal data The Society of Glass Technology (SGT) is a Learned Society with charitable status. It is primarily a membership organisation and has a commercial relationship with members and other customers who purchase its products. The SGT is firmly committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our members, customers and website visitors throughout the world. We take steps to ensure the adequate protection of your personal data, including complying with applicable laws and regulations. As part of our commitment to safeguarding your personal data, we have rewritten our Privacy Policy to clarify and provide additional details about the information we collect, how we use it, and how our visitors can correct or change it. Our new Privacy Policy reinforces our commitment to protecting your privacy and gives you greater control over how we process your information. This is our privacy notice for our members and customers with whom we have transactions. It explains your statutory rights and how we collect and use your personal data. It describes the processing activities that are carried out by the SGT. the purposes for which these activities are performed and the legal basis that the SGT relies upon for these processing activities. We may update this privacy notice from time to time to ensure it is always up to date and accurate. Any changes we may make to our privacy notice will be posted on our website (www.sgt.org) and we will inform our members of the change. If you are a customer we collect information relating to your purchase which enables us to complete the transaction. Categories of information collected include: Basic contact details such as name & address (personal and/or work) and phone number, email and social media. Date of birth, gender. Billing, subscription and registration information.
WE DO NOT collect payment information. This is handled separately for us by SAGEPAY a certified payment processing company
Personal Data Use We use your data for providing you with information and services relating to your membership or customer relationship with us. Sending out marketing and other communications to keep you informed of SGT activities such as conferences, published material and other aspects of our offering. As we are a membership organisation we may process your data for archival, scientific, historical and statistical purposes.
Personal Data Disclosure We do not disclose any personal data we hold to any third parties other than those we are required to by law. If we are asked for any contact details by another member we will always seek your additional permission for that to happen. If you do not give permission the data will not be released. If you take any of our printed Journals your address is provided to our Journal distributor. |
